BMW Scanner (a cheap eBay BMW specific tool) WILL read ABS and DSC and ASC errors on your e46. It will read pressure sensor errors on the ABS unit and also wheel speed and steering angle sensor errors that are related to the ABS system. It will also provide the correct BMW codes for unit failure.

The gear indicator lights going down the left side of the shifter do not indicate the correct lights for the gear selected. Might be a fault indicator light or connection on one of the doors. try to move the car around with one of the other doors (besides drivers) open and see if the indicator goes on.

Eg. I'm turning right with my indicator on, if I click right again, it turns the indicator off. Saves sometimes clicking left to turn it off and it ends up indicating left!
